目前不锈钢管有两种制造管子的方式：无缝钢管（seamless）、焊接或是电阻焊接（electric resistance welding，ERW）。
无缝钢管是用挤型或是辊式穿孔方式+冷轧或冷拔相结合制造。
焊接或电阻焊接管（Electric resistance welding）是将金属片折弯成管状后，在边缘部分焊接接合，因此在管的侧面会有焊接缝。
